The Red Dear Packer, Camellia.
I didn't look these up, at first, and just guessed at what "flavor" each pack. I deduced that the pink is Cherry blossom, or Sakura, the yellow is Canola (the flowers reminded me of Innisfree's commercial of their canola product), and the green looked like cacti, but there are fruits on it, so it is Prickly Pear. There are A LOT of those where I live, so that was the easiest to figure out. Prickly Pear is also used as a drink here, and it's used by another Korean beauty company in their jelly mask.
I guessed the yellow one wrong, got 3 out 4, though I couldn't really find a lot of information on the bran. Here are the correct flavors: Yellow pack - Rape seed Moisturizing mask, Red pack -Camellia Skin Firming mask, Pink pack - Cherry Blossom Skin Whitening mask, and the Green pack - Prickly Pear/Cactus Recharge? (saw the info on Amazon) mask, maybe they meant Revitalizing mask. I've seen pictures that describe these masks, though it was all in Korean, and the green mask had prickly pear fruit next to it, but some still call it cactus mask. I had also read that this was for calming the skin, rather than rechargin, or revitalizing the skin. Does anyone know which it is? leave me a comment below. Thanks!
Picked a Mask to review:
So, after much debating with myself, I had chosen this one! YEY!
It's red, and I was going through a Camellia phase in those few days. I even bought Boscia's Tsubaki Deep Hydration Hydrogel mask from Sephora that week.
I could not find a lot of information on the brand, but I still want to know them. Please comment down below if you of them, or about them. It would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Ingredients:
SO! What is Camellia?
If you see the words "Camellia Japonica" in the front of a pack or in the ingredients list, this is its the latin name. The latin name for the Japanese Camellia; hence Japonica. The Camellia Japonica is a cousin of the Camellia Sinensis, which is the tea plant, or tea tree, but not the tea tree you think it is. The Tea Tree you may be thinking of, used for acne, is called Melaleuca Altirnifolia. The Camellia Sinensis is Green Tea.
In Japan, the word for camellia is Tsubaki. The most popular color for camellia is red, and it is a variant or a cousin of the flower, Rose. Camellia is also known as the Japanese Rose. The Japanese Rose is a member of the tea family. It's featured in many, many, VERY many animes, and mangas. Yes, I love my anime and manga. I will not deny it.
Anyway, camellia oil is rich in Omega-9 Linoleic Fatty Acids, as well as Vitamin A, B, D, and E. The oil is 82% Oleic fatty acids, which makes it a great emollient, and the molecular weight is very similar to the skin's, making it more quickly absorbed into the skin.
How to use it:
'chipped' corner = tear here, so I did |
- Wash your face - preferably a double cleanse.
- Tone your skin - I like to use a hydrating toner to prep my face for the sheet mask, or for the rest of my skincare routine.
- Find the little chipped corner, like I did on my picture.
- Take out your sheet mask and unfold it - this doesn't have a pearl, I call it plastic, film, so it's might be alittle difficult.
- Once the sheet mask is on your face, leave it on for 15-20 minutes - I left it on for 30 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, pat the excess essence on to your face
- Continue with the rest of skincare routine, or not.
Tips:
- Pull from the bottom and up, when 15-20 minutes are done.
- Best time to use a sheet mask: at night.
I usually use a sheet mask after my actives, and using an emulsion, but when if it's for testing or for first time use, I only double cleanse, tone and then then use an emulsion, or moisturizer at the end.
The Mask:
I wanted you all to see how the sheet mask looked before I completely wrap it around mah face.
So the fit is just, it's great, except for the sheet between my nose and lips. It covered a bit of my top lip, but other than that, it was great. The sheet mask was very comfy, and did not slip off my face. There was still a lot of essence on it after wearing it for 35 minutes, and it still had plenty of essence left.
The Essence:
I thought the (this is a link on the right) Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask, but this smells even better. Well, ok, I'm partial to powdery floral scents, and this smells powdery and like flowers. Not too heavy on the olfactory senses, too. It's so lovely, I almost fell asleep with the mask on.
As you can see, there is a lot of essence. It's milky, and reminds me of skin milk, actually, except this smells SOOOOOOOOO good.
Anyway, back to the essence. Essence on the sheet mask. See the little specks? For some reason, it reminds me of strawberries. Hmm. Strawberries. I need food while I type.
The mask was drenched in the essence, and it felt a bit sticky on my hands at first, but that went away after it dried.
My thoughts and rating:
This mask is AMAZING. Not only does the smell relax me, because it smells very close to an actual Japanese Camellia, it hydrated my skin VERY well, and felt SO moisturized. Yes, my adjectives are in all caps. I don't know what else I can say about this mask, or this brand, because this definitely made me want more. This is my favorite Camellia sheet mask now! So many pros and no cons for this sheet mask. I rate this a 5 out of 5!
